We eventually boarded the train about 9.30pm and quickly after, the train departed, our room is bigger and better than the last train, we have room to move, plus we have a toilet and a sink, in the room, the beds are more comfortable so here we go.
As we bought a bottle of wine before we left, we opened it, and played a few hands of crib, also we were told the clock goes forward, another hour less for sleeping. We both took sleeping tablets, and we both had a better nights sleep.
We went to breakfast, and shared a table with a lady who was going to England in May, so we were talking a lot about that. We had a really sour lady doing the tables, she was very rude, not sure why, we hadn’t done anything wrong.
The day was quite relaxed, we finished our wine before lunch, and then went into the dining car, well this woman was on again, she was so inefficient, she was turning all the paying customers away, our meals came with our ticket as we had a sleeper, so she couldn’t say No to us. I wanted to organise her, as I know I could have done a better job, the more stressed she got the angrier she became, we just sat back and watched and waited. We finally got our meal, but they had run out of most things.
The views from the train were ok, but nothing exciting, before we got into New York we were running adjacent to the Hudson River, it is huge!
Finally we arrived in New York, collected our cases, after a long wait, and found a taxi to go to Hotel, having quickly unpacked we decided to go for a walk.
Wow, what an exciting place this is, scary, but fun, loads and loads of police around, but everyone very friendly. We came across one shop in fifth Ave that had lights to music, it was amazing, reminded us of the fountains in Dubai, they were fabulous.
We walked to Time Square found out where everything is happening, and decided we would probably not make the spot by the ball, as to get there, you have to come out first thing tomorrow morning and stay there all day, not my scene.
We meandered around, Geoff had a McDonald, I had a cuppa, then we headed back to the Hotel, tired but happy.
